Questions We Get a Lot

A door mount hangboard typically installs over or into a door frame and gives you a fixed, stable training station — great if you have a consistent training spot at home. A portable hangboard uses straps or a removable mount so you can set it up and break it down anywhere, which is a solid option if you travel for climbing trips or rotate between training spaces. Both styles are represented in our collection, so it really comes down to how and where you train.

Not necessarily — several boards in our collection are designed for no-drill installation, either by hanging over a standard door frame or using strap-based mounting systems. If you're renting or just don't want to put holes in your wall, those are the ones to look at. The product listings call out mounting style clearly so you know exactly what you're getting before you buy.

Honest answer: hangboarding is one of the most effective tools for building finger strength, but it puts real load on tendons and pulleys, so jumping in too hard too fast is how injuries happen. If you're newer to climbing, starting with easier grip positions, keeping sessions short, and building volume gradually is the move. That said, several boards in our lineup include multiple grip type options — jugs, slopers, pockets, crimps — so you can progress at your own pace without needing to upgrade your equipment.

We offer 30-Day Returns on our hangboards — if it doesn't fit your door frame, doesn't suit your training setup, or just isn't the right fit, you can return it within 30 days of purchase. Head to our Return Policy page for the full details on how to start a return. We want you training on something that actually works for your space, not something collecting dust.

About Our Hangboards

Hangboards are one of the most efficient training tools a climber can own — no rope, no wall, no gym membership required. At Gravity Built Systems, our hangboard collection is built around real training needs: whether you're mounting a board above your door frame at home, rigging a portable fingerboard at a crag campsite, or setting up a dedicated training station in a home gym or commercial climbing facility. Our lineup includes door mount hangboards with multiple grip types for structured sessions, no-drill options for renters and travelers, and hardwood portable boards built for climbers who train everywhere. From beginner-friendly profiles to boards with deep pockets and sharp crimps for advanced training, there's a board here for every stage of the climbing progression. If you're serious about getting stronger on the wall, a hangboard is where that work starts.
